Steering??

I was able to get to work on the boat this weekend, pulling out all the old controls.  The existing steering was completely shot.  Couldn't even turn the wheel so of course it had to go.  My question now is what do I put in its place.  The system I pulled out was a two cable system.  Do I really need to go back with that or can I use a single cable system???  I have been looking at the uflex rotary system.  The motor will be a Suzuki dt140.

Hello MartiPop,

If you went to a Hydraulic steering system like a Baystar or Seastar you would honestly never want another mechanical steering system again. I have a Seastar on my 22-2 with twin 115's and a Baystar on my flats boat with a 60 Bigfoot Merc. The Baystar is a lower cost version rated to 150 hp which would work for your Suzi 140. You are going to spend about 2X over a mechanical system and worth every penny. Teleflex is the manufacturer.

I have a seastar on my XF200 and love it over the mechanical steering they are easy to put in and great to use.
