100 mile trip on the River
« on: May 10, 2011, 07:15:50 PM »
Me and the inlaws-to-be made a 100 mile voyage on the river in a very nice drive-by-wire new Boston Whaler 230 Dauntless.  The boat was powered by a 300HP Verado, appears to be a bay boat, but requires almost 2 feet of water to float.  Very heavy, very responsive, tops out at 45mph and takes waves like a 15mph Pontoon Boat.  Impressive.

But enough about that boat-  8)

The inlaws' neighbor (Paul   ), owns an Aeon Marine 23', which he says was based on a 22-2.  He had it custom built

This boat was discussed in this thread:

I also spied a little Striper while we were out- first time I'd seen one in person.  The boat appears capable of supporting a fairly large amount of weight in the cockpit

Just wanted to share..  :thumright:

Thanks for sharing!

A 300hp outboard on that Whaler?  Nice!  If it tops out at just 45mph with a 300, it must be a damn heavy boat!

Jesse,
The old 165 Striper!  Boy, I could tell you a story about decking one of those little puppys...deck mold A, hull mold C...didn't work out real well...

Aeon, down in Palmetto.  Have heard quite a bit about their boats, betcha there are some old AS guys there...

Funny after I read this post yesterday I went by the new West Marine "flagship" store in St. Pete.  They were gettign ready for the grand opening and there was a Aeon boat there on display.  Clearly a 222 inspired boat for sure.
