AS fish hold drain residule water
« on: March 21, 2011, 09:44:58 PM »
I have a 1995 Aquasport Osprey 24.5. Center Console
I have a hard time getting all the water out of the fish hold back by the transom.
The pump hose fitting is up off the botom about an inch.
Any ideas?
I really do not want to drain it into the bilge, like I have read some have done.
I have read here some have reglassed a drain in the bottom of the hold and covered the original drain.
I would rather do a simple extended pick up.
Is there a connection that worked out for some of you?
I am sure one of you guys has figured out a way?

Thanks Bryan

Here is a thread, probably the best solution to the problem.  viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6311&hilit=fishbox

Personally, I put a hole in the bottom, with a Garbor drain plug and sleeve.  Figuring to pump out as much of the nasty as possible, then rinse the little bit left down into the bilge, pour some bleach through the same hole, good enough.
Now for my comentary on the fishbox as a useable feature
Pete's is different, the newer AS's had the fishbox lid split in two, hinged in the middle.  My 97, one piece, forget it.  Where does everybody fish?, where does all the stuff accumulate while fishing?  Correct, right over the fishbox, add a 2-3 foot sea, and try to get that monster lid off the box, sliding around the deck and out of the way and get the pi$$ed off big fish in the box.... not very easy to say the least.  One day I may split it in two, and hinge it, and if seriously going out for the big boys, I'll use it, but for the normal offshore bottom trips, my 150 Igloo doesn't take up that much space.  Just my .02

Marc, thanks I appreciate the advice.
I too thought about spliting the rear hold for the same reasons
Maybe one of us can post the lid split if we do

Nice job, I also like the pie plate there as it looks like you can see the bilge switch better too.
My cover is split but no center section just hinged to each half.
The edge has some chips from that setup.

Looking at the job you have done I do think it is the best way to do it.
Thanks for all the info.
Now just need the time

Bryan,
Thats the way the lid comes from the factory on my 2003.You could maybe use a piece of starboard for the center section, trimming the lid to fit?
