Question for RickK and anyone else that camps on their boat

Hello RickK,

I remember talking with a while ago and I know you have a similar boat to mine.  1999 245 Explorer.  I was thinking of doing some travleing/camping on the boat also.  To NY harbour and through the D&R to Baltimore.  

Was wondering if you could point out some of the things that aren't commonly thought of when boating on long trips like a four day trip.

Anyone else that has ideas would be helpful also.

Sorry, couldn't resist.  I would approach it like we do when taking the motor home, start making a list about a week out, as you think of stuff, right it down.  Go over it near the end for qty, and necessity.  usually it take a few times to tailor it to you family's fit.

You have the all around eisen-glass yet on yours?  You did do the full length bimini though, correct?  
We do sleep in sleeping bags and we lay one open across the bed for the dog and under us.
Bring lots of big towels. If we're out by ourselves (like during the week) with no one around we bring the porti potti up onto deck and put between the 2 deck chairs - a lot less hassle that way. We like to clip towels across the bimini supports to dry them out, block the sun and give privacy.  You can get spring clips at WM for like $4 for 16 clips in all sizes - they usually last a season or two before rusting.
Things I like on mine is the full wrap of eisen AND screen, fiberglass propane tank and BBQ grill.  We have a dry 120qt cooler and a cold 120qt cooler to store all the essentials.
The Honda 2000ei generator and the window shaker AC unit that I bought at HD for $69 to fit in the doorway for those summer nights.  In the cool Autumn and Spring nights we don't pack the AC but do pack the generator for making coffee in the morning.
Getting to be that time, here anyway.

You all know how to do it right.

I do have the bimini all the way back.  Need to get sides made for it though.  I do have a small generator, need to get the AC.  Have a portable gas grill for the rod holder and the coolers.  Have a mast headlight that goes on the outrigger at night.  Spare anchors, lines, and battery.

Just need to get the beers and hot dogs.

Some other things - Lantern (gas or LED), a couple waterproof rechargeable spotlights/flashlights, skeeter coils/citronella candles, baby wipes or other wet wipe thingies, a good first-aid kit, a couple scotch-brite pads and some liquid soap, jiffy-pop or other popcorn you can cook on the grill (kids love it and so do small fish), more ice that you think you will need (consider freezing tap water in some jugs - works as ice and you can drink it when it melts), a fillet knife and at least minimal cooking/eating gear (check out www.campmor.com).   :afro:

Oh, and don't forget the blender you can mount on the optional steering wheel shelf or hook up to a power takeoff on the motor...

Wow, now thats what I call an outing. Don't forget your Amex card for the hotel (for that much needed shower by then)and mall on the water in the Inner harbor in Baltimore at Light Street and Pratt Ave. The best Seafoood to be found. The harbor is right next to where frances Scott Key wrote the Star spangled banner.
