When I built my little Swamp Witch boat.
http://www.troutwagon.com/Nautical/Swam ... Witch1.htmWhat I did was, when the hull number's were assigned, I went to a trophy shop and had them make a little plaque. Then I mad a jig for the router to follow and recessed a hole for the plaque to sit in. The plaque was then epoxy glued into the recess.
They want the number's put on so that if they are tampered with it will be obvious.
That much work is not nessissary, but it made a clean install. They frown on screw's, but pop rivit's are OK.
You could just have the plaque made and epoxy it on. If someone tried to remove it, it will surely show.
I have the original plaque for my Mako. It was pop rivited on, but is in poor shape. It's plastic.
