It kinda burns on your head though.

When I got my little boat it had a Bob's Machine manual jackplate.  I traded out some wiring work on a Renaissance Prowler cat boat for a nearly new Bob's Flats Jack hydraulic plate.  In getting the manual plate off I pulled a hand size piece of gel coat off.  It was bedded with 5200.

I had the same problem when I switched out jack plates on my flats boat. Here is a little trick I learned. While the engine is hanging on a hoist take out all of the bolts completely, take a piece of 30# mono or wire leader, feed it through the small gap between the transom bracket and transom and saw the 5200 with the line or wire leader. you have to contort back and forth with a sawing motion and it will cut the 5200. I`ll bet braided line would work even better. This works!

Yep.  I have since learned that 80-100# braided line works really well for sawing 5200.   :thumright:
