can any one here verify if this is a aquasport? its 22 feet and seems to look like a 222 but it has v in the stern and the beam is 9 feet. i think it was originally a inboard aswell the transom is 25". i rebuilt the deck and transom ,cut out a splashwell to make more room, im a commercial fisherman. the hull is like a rock and crushes waves. any help is appriciated. thanks .<a href="http://img220.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gotcha26dl.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/2064/gotcha26dl.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at

Don't think Aquasport made a 222 with a 9' beam.
Nice lookin boat though.

This is not an Aquasport. I can say with much confidence. The bow shape is wrong, the beam is too wide and, the interior, even though it could have been modified bears no forensic evidence. The top cap wraps around the transom, which is another thing Aquasport didn't do. The console, even though it could have been traded, doesn't bear any aquasport heritage. The only link is the hull color scheme. For some time during the 80's Angler used an Aquasport copycat color scheme. It is possible that's an Angler. The HIN will seal the deal. If memory serves me right it should have ASPK in it.

Radioshops correct, bow dosent have aquasports lines, first thing I notice. ASPK or AQAN would be first in hull ID numbers, If you found them.

Every vessel in the state of Florida must have hull ID numbers. If it doesn't a grouper trooper has the full authority to confiscate the vessel on the spot. You ID number should also be on the registration, unless you've got a "homebuilt" ID number. You can engrave those numbers yourself on the transom.

Radio - I think that only applies to 'new' vessels and not old ones. My 1970 222 doesn't have a hull ID number and I think manufactures didn't start putting those on the transom until later years.
When I went to have the boat titled and registered, they told me they were not computerized in 1970 so they had no record of my boat ever being titled in FLorida. I had the title in my hand but they didn't have any record of it. They did have a record of the registration.
I got the boat titled and registered but it still doesn't have hull ID numbers, only the 'FL' number.

You may be right, I've never heard that before, but I know from firsthand experience they can confiscate. I'd whip out the dremel and go for it. It'll take all of ten minutes and save a bunch of hassle. Yes you can argue with the grouper trooper, but remember this, they're the lowest paid form of law enforcement in the state. What do you figure the odds are of one them having a bad day and not be willing to "go the extra mile"? How many times have you seen an old boat that was restored that didn't look like it was 35 years old? You can beat the rap, but not the ride?

That could be a Morgan 21 which is the smaller sister to the Morgan 24 which was built in Naples,Fl. Like the 24,the 21 had a single inboard option and both boats carry a 9' beam.
