I hope to go off shore next summer,and my wife wants to do some diving what do you think about diving seven miles off shore from Galveston Tx.

Should be nothing wrong with that,you'll still be insight of land for sure,that helps if your nervous about being offshore like it sounds you might be.

How deep is the water seven miles off Galveston?  Seven miles off the west coast of Florida is only about 45' deep.

Online charts look like about the same.  40-45 ft.

Seeing land is not a problem, just make sure you have a compass. And don't set anything metal (screwdrivers, pliers, etc.) near the compass.

Not sure what kind of answer you're looking for...  :scratch:  Sort of a vague question...

If you know some dive sites off Galveston, then by all means!  Be sure the marine forecast is favorable for a trip that far off.  If you're going to be the only boat, remember you're somewhat far from help.  Carrying O2 onboard is a smart idea if you're scuba diving.
