Used to drag her to Jersey in the summers for Makos and Tuna. Up there we'd run to 40 off. I did tow her to the canyons once and we popped a pig blue that day. Did it once. Won'tdo it again. Most of the fishing here in Florida is within twenty miles. I'm one of those not bright guys that will do the odd swordfish solo run twenty off but as I get older I pick my weather. I have brought he to the Bahamas a couple times and may just drag her behind again this year...
As for the other question... In 1985 they had changed the layout on the 19-6 and made the osprey from the old Gull specs. Bob Hewes (Yes that one) was a friend and helped me out with building the inner liner (Old specs). The boys in the old Hialeah plant were happy to oblige...
The first boat outlived a few OMC powers. Then this one chewed up two more John/Rudes before switching to her current yammie 115 in 1992!
Yeah thats right pushing 4800 hours on the little beast. Tuppens of the Palm Beaches did the instalL and some sharp rigging guys came up with mounting her about an inch and a half high. I lost some steerability but gained a ton of efficiency. On thing I should note is that it toatlly changed how it raised fish and took a long time to dial back in (RPM... Etc).
I'll get some more pics up asap.
