sweet ride, Appears to be in excellent condition.

About that Bimini 1.I bet that's the original Bimini top and 2. Can you take a closer pic of the hardware that its attached to.  I have the same Bimini set-up on my boat but I cant figure out how to attach the Bimini to the hardware on the sides of the gunwale.

The Bimini was designed to lay right in front of the casting deck.

It is the original top. Here are the hardware photos.

Maiden voyage today after 5 years in storage. Ran for a while and then got an overheat alert, let it cool down and tried again and it did a little better, few more times and it got less frequent. Used the kicker while it cooled down. Pulled the heads tonight and there was quite a bit of crud in the jackets. Going to go ahead and pull the lower and put a new impeller in the water pump this week just to be sure. Will also check the sensors while I'm at it.

It did run very good and that little motor is worth it's weight in gold.

We already had the dock, we just needed a boat.

Thanks for the pics, I got it now.

I think your plan on the motor sounds good, check the thermostat and give the carbs a good cleaning while your at it.

Nice boat! I've had my share of OMC problems over the decades. Those OMC V-4's are notorious for sticking thermostats, especially if they have been sitting around for a while.I would definately change them if I were you.

No thermostats in this one, FIL took them out years ago.  One possible problem area is where the water tube goes into the adapter plate, there is a grommet there and salt water corrosion can choke it down. Got the gear case off tonight with no problems, water pump impeller is in perfect condition so it may have been changed along the way. When I get the heads back together I'm going to hook a water line to the supply tube feeding the engine and check the volume of flow arriving at the top of the heads.

p.s.  It took me a good while to figure out how to get the shift rod disconnected as the book didn't show that real well. Regardless, I'm having a fun time with this old boat.

Two stoke outboards run their best when functioning at a given temperature range. That range is controlled by the thermostats. JohnyRudes are notorious for poor running when cold as well as hot. You can run it any way you desire but for best performance you need the proper range thermostats installed. Another thing to think about is the water temperature in NC. Might be just a little cooler than Fla. temps.

That's what they're all about.

Good luck.

That picture is actually the current background on my computer  8)  .  I believe the bimini laying in front of the casting deck in that photo is actually the dodger.  You can also see the other bimini laying in the floor just behind the casting deck.  I really want a dodger- it's the answer to using a center console in cold weather.

Yea, thats what I meant, the Bimini lays just "behind" the casting deck.

Let me know if you find a dodger, as i would like one too.  (Im guess it would be a custom job)

Well after a couple of weeks of working on the motor things are finally coming together. This thing is running good. Had a good time running around on the lake this afternoon.

Cool Video  8)

She seems to be running right  :thumright:

That reminded me that I have a running video of my own (we have the same boat... well almost) if you'd like to check it out.

Nice boat!   :salut:   Welcome to the site and it's great to have another NC member.  Rhodhiss is a neat lake - in between the flat down-state lakes and the deep and narrow mountain lakes.  How's the striper fishing been this year?  You ever get down to Norman?

See ya on the water!
