Oil/fuel alarm
« on: October 01, 2010, 05:24:27 AM »
Hi.could use a little help on this one! I have a 2000 Johnson 115vxsss. I can run all day with no problem, until I need to troll or idle, Then it happens, I get a NO OIL light with a single long beeeeep. Oil tank full , Engine running (consuming oil) generally running great. I have checked all common tests for lack of oil, loose lines obstructions in both oil and fuel systems.I premixed my gas just in case, don't want any   .When this started it could be as soon as Self test cleared, or coming in to the ramp. This past weekend ran 2.5 hrs stopped several places trying   to set anchor, trolled for 25 min,Alarm sounded and promptly went off, Any ideas would be appreciated Thanks   :? .This one has me stumped, and it sucks at the ramp when you have to idle waiting to load

Mike,
More will comment here soon, but I think a single continuous tone is an overheating alarm?? and if it is doing it when you come back down from cruise to troll, it may be thermostats, or poppet valve?? If you have a VRO system, you should read this article attached, I found it very informative, and it dispells many rumors of the VRO system.

I'll guess a dirty oil filter.
Huh

If it's like mine, there is an oil filter in the tank on the end of the pick up tube. Only happened once but replacing the filter fixed it.

Just a guess.
