Why not?
« on: September 05, 2010, 09:59:40 AM »
This is my first post but I have enjoyed this forum for a log time now. Please don't shun me because of the question I am going to ask. Let me qualify this by saying I am a huge fan of the Classic Aquasport Flatback (ie Flatback Man) and am aware that this is called Classic Aquasport. But I know that a good percentage our members own something other then a Aquasport. My question is can we add a forum category for people who own other Classic Flatbacks? FYI I own a 1971 Proline Flatback rebuilt in 2010. Good Fishing!

Start a poll thread like I did for skoot with the trailer forum.

Then just sit back and see what happens.

Sounds like a good idea but I have no idea how to do that?

Welcome aboard FM  :!:  :!:
I think that the assumption that
Quote
a good percentage our members own something other then a Aquasport.
might be a little flawed.  I would say that a very tiny percentage own other than an Aquasport, like maybe < 1%.  We don't think anything less of them, in fact some come to our gatherings and are good people, it's just I think they feel a little out of place because "it's an Aquasport site".
That is not the point though, the point is you're trying to find a home, correct?
I could open up another forum for other than AS classics but I'm not sure whether we'd want ALL other classics (they all have their own sites already - including Proline) and if we limit it to just other flatbacks, you and the other 5 members with them would be about it.  I just manage the site and it was created by an owner of a classic AS (wonder if he ever rebuilt it or if it's still sitting in his yard?). Not sure how he or the general population would react to opening our doors to all other flatbacks.  We can do a poll if everyone pipes in and desires it. I should be the one to ask the membership via a poll, if it comes to that.
While we're waiting, post some pics  8)

FM,
This is by far the best site out their, brand-specific or not.  You can visit me and other PL owners at http://www.theprolineguy.com/index.php, but my site caters to newer PLs.  The best thing to do is enjoy the commaraderie that CA offers, the incredible wealth of knowledge that is available here (a lot of simalar situations with your boat and the flatback ASs), and the fact that you will always be treated like family here...

I built Aquasports from '94-'00, and was an engineer at PL from '06 until Feb. of '10, when I got laid off.  My heart, and my favorite boats, will always be Aquasports.  So sit back, relax, chime in where you fell you can make a difference, give some helpful advice, ask a question (most important!), or offer a good, off-hand remark (we like those!).  But most of all, enjoy... :thumright:  :thumright:

AND HAVE A BEER!!!

FM,

Welcome to our site, and as stated, we're a family.

The boys here offer sound advice.

Best to you, and again, welcome!

Scott
