1Outboard for the Yamaha
« on: September 01, 2010, 11:37:13 AM »
The news was not good for my Yamaha HPDI 150.  Piston, corrosion, burned cylinder.....

One solution is rebuilding the motor.  I came across this outfit.

Anybody have an experience with this place?

Got any other ideas that would pass the 'Dearpartment of War' Secretary?

Thanks

I have never had any personal experience with them, nor even close friends, but check this link out on THT, http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-for ... d-2-a.html

I am not intending to slam anyone, but do your own research and do it well, before entering in any agreement/contract with any rebuilder.

Thank you for your responses.

Now that I've read THT string, I will not be sending my motor to 1outboard.

It's interesting to note that what the owner said to the others on first contact matched almost verbatum what he said to me.  Florida shops can't be trusted.  One year warranty.  If your motor has any sort of problem even four years from now, we can rebuild it for $850. He will go over it from top to bottom and fix everything at his quoted price.

Its back to square one.

Eagleton,
Try to keep it local.  That way, should any issues arise that weren't expected by either you or the re-builder, you can drop by the shop to both inspect the issue and learn of your options...or pick up the motor and take it elsewhere...

Eagleton,

If your in Florida try giving Chris Carson Marine a shout http://www.chriscarsonmarine.com/  Chris rebuilt a power head for me and his service was top notch.  You can read about him on scream and fly forum.

I called Chris Carson and he had some good ideas.

Thanks.

I am open to any other thoughts. Now I'm thinking factory power head. It shouldn't be that hard to switch them around.

Famous last words.
