leaning starboard

New to the forum. I recently purchased a 1970 -22.2 flatback, with a 150 HP Mercury.

Had it the other day and it is leaning quite a bit to starboard, even when my buddy sat all the way over on the port side. Any suggestions?
I know I need to pull the deck off and check the stringers for rot but thats a winter job.

Welcome to the site!  Aquasport stringers don't rot, they are fiberglass filled with foam - but the foam does get soaked and that can add hundreds of lbs of weight to the boat.  Some AS models are a bit tender to list - you might try moving the batteries around a bit and see if she levels out...  A 1970 model probably has wet foam under the deck unless she has been recently redecked.

Thanks for your reply. Yes I know that the stringers are fiberglass and are filled with foam. Wet foam is what I thought might me the problem. I'll be taking off the old deck this winter and replacing the foam where needed. I didn't mention this, but when the boat is not up on plane and under way there is no problem, other then the boat sits pretty low in the water.
I'll move the batteries to the port side and see if that helps. Would moving the trim tab (anode) on the lower unit help, if so which way do I turn it to fix a starboard lean?

your trim tab on the lower unit is to counteract tortional thrust created by the engine while under power, without it your steering wheel would tend to turn in one direction without you constantly fighting it.  With Hydraulic steering it is not very noticable, but with a cable it will really be prounounced sometimes.  It has nothing to do with the boats attitude fore and aft or side to side.

Nothing other than what the others mentioned, batts, water in the foam etc... I think you will wind up discovering the cause after some deliberate investigation, and time, that is usually how it goes..
