Value of my Boat
« on: October 25, 2005, 10:18:19 PM »
Hey guys,
Just curios as to what the value of my boat might be. (Sorry I have no pictures but will do the best I can.)

Hull is a 170 (17') 1984 Aquasport Osprey and is a solid hull with no soft spots. Has some minor scratches on outside of hull but nothing out of the ordinary for normal "used not abused" play. Floor is a little dirty but and has a couple of stains. There is no windshield or door hatch for below console storage. Other than that, everything else is in good condition.

Motor is a 75hp 1984 Mercury that runs very well. PT&T and is a V-4 engine.

Trailer is a galvanized 1994 E-Z loader with new wheels and new u-bolts. Is in good working order and is only used to go 1/2 a mile about 10 times
to and from the water (evcept for one long run to the cape and back every year where it is kept.)

Extras: Has a VHF, Hummingbird Fishfinder, New Marine Battery, Two life jackets, and coast guard safety equipment.

What do you all think?
Thanks in Advance, Mr. Osprey.

The hull, is worth between $1600-2000, with options described, plus I threw in a Bimini top (+- $140-170).  Your motor is between $420-500.  Your trailer is $308-368.50.   So you're looking at $2388-5196.  These figures are based on the book (www.nadaguides.com) and my zip code (33143), which is South Florida.  I generally think South Florida prices are the worst case scenario.  Depending on something being in better condition than something else, you can adjust your asking price for each item to come up with an "adjusted" total price.  Also keep in mind you can get a relatively new, though not better, 170 for $13k.  Not having seen your boat, I would think $4200 would be pretty reasonable.  Clean up those stains throw some wax on it, you'd probably be able to ask $4800.

Guys,
Check the numbers again, I think if you ad all the max values you're off by about $2000 ($2000+$ 170+$500+$370=$3040) for your max NADA value.
