Location of HIN on 1970 Aquasport

Where would I find the hull identification number on a 1970 Aquasport ? Did the put it on the transom back then ? Anywhere else on the hull ?
Is there a key to decode HIN's that old ?

Thinking of going to look at one for a project, and I want to be able to verify year, model, etc.

I am not saying it was required, but I am sure Aquasport put some identifying number somewhere on each hull.

Does anyone know where the number would be, and what  the numbers mean ?

I'm sure they put some sort of HIN on it, it's just a matter of where. Check the usual spot, starboard upper aft corner below the rubrail, also check port forward, either under the rubrail itself (where we used to put the deck HIN when they were built by Genmar), or up underneath the gunnel on the top edge of the liner...

This has been talked about quite a bit by rebuilders here of late 60s and up to 71 Aquasports and they never found a number anywhere.  I've replaced the rubrail on mine and didn't see any numbers.
