Aswaff,
Here's a pic of an OMC alarm I have...

purple and a tan w/blue stripe...

I gotta guess those are alarm wires, like you said.  Do you have a "System Check" tach or gauge?

i pulled the gauge panel, all the tan and tan with stripe wires lead to the alarm, and disappear in that black vinyl tube. its a 3 wire alarm, black, purple, and tan...

no system check gauge? oh well... i got spark, it cranks trim works electric choke works, its all i need lol :bounce:

so i finally have a day off where its not raining, fired the motor up, as i would suspect, the kill switch(key off) is not grounding out... here come the headaches :?

otherwise the motor runs great!

So when you pull the lanyard, you're not getting continuity across the 2 terminals...

Hell, you oughta have a bunch of kill switches laying around the shop, easy R & R... :thumleft:

its the key/kill switch combo, when i turn the key off its not grounding the coils...

put the boat in the water, holy crap! it got up to 40 mph in a heartbeat! too choppy to go any faster than 35 without beating the boat to hell, only got it up to 40mph (less than 3/4 throttle).... pulled up to the dock at my work to top off the tank with some fresh gas, went to pull away, nothing, shift cable broke  :ncool:

You've got a break in the ground wire somewhere in that engine harness... Do a continuity check between the coil ground wire on the motor and the key switch.  Maybe it's just the key switch, which feeds the kill switch.

Sorry about the cable... :x
