97 explorer cabin question for Seabob4

Speaking of carpeting, I notice in many cabin photos there are black streaks on the carpet indicating leaking windows. Is this common? Mine leak but I don't know yet whether it's the seal around the window itself or they don't seal properly when closed. Any thoughts?

Mine leak - I think it's just poor windows.  Water gets in the track and then comes through into the cabin.  The rubber in the tracks is shot I think, at least on mine.

I haven't looked close at mine but I'd bet they are similar and probably not as well constructed. Anyway, you can see how the water gets into the outside track and as the rubber seals age, it makes its way (Titanic style) to the rear channel.
Next thing you know....

Those are my windows exactly and the stain is too.  
I wonder if we can rebuild them - is that the OEM in the link?  Oh SeaBob.....white phone is ringing.

I just installed a new stereo and got a pretty good match on the headliner material. The wood was pretty ugly so I just made a whole new unit. The wire sticking out above is from the gps unit on my Humminbird 998.

Damn, back to January, I guess the white phone was off the hook...

Really have no clue who made those opening port lights for us back then, but I would have to think it was Bomar.  Regardless, the best way to stop those leaks is to completely disassemble the ports and re-bed them in 5200, not silicone.  And a LOT of it!  But the problem seems to be the rubber gasketing for the sliding windows.  Looked at Bomar's site (Pompanette), didn't see anything that resembled the Explorer port light.

I'll email Todd Biddison, who was our engineering manager at the time, and see if he remembers who the vendor was...he should!

Mine has a couple removable pieces up there - they must have stopped using them in your year.
