New member CCP Restoration Question
« on: June 28, 2010, 07:43:32 PM »
I'm a first timer who has been enjoying this site for a while, I have a 1981 20 CCP that I am restoring. JDupree and some of you other guys have provided some great information to help me along the way, especially on the gas tank replacement. I have a question about the flotation foam under the floor. I recently found what appears to be some saturated foam under both sides of the deck in the rear of the boat (I assume the stringers are saturated as well). The floor is solid so I dont want to rip it up and remove the foam unless I absolutely have to. Do any of you pros have recommendations for what should be done? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

First, welcome. As I've found, you have good friends here, and plenty of sincere help.

I'll defer your questions to the CCP owners.....you own a great classic Aquasport!

Best, and welcome aboard!

Welcome :!:   A picture of where you found the wet foam would be great.  Have an idea where you are talking about but a picture would help.  I am thinking that you looked down through the back hatches?  If I look down mine I can see some overflow foam coming out from under the deck.  My opinion would be that if the deck is soild I would not worry about it.  Just because you have wet foam would not mean the stringers were saturated as well.

Not quite sure how your CCP sits in the water, but if she sits normal and not low in the water I would think you would be good to go :!: I think it would be safe to say that most of us with these older CCP'S have some wet foam somewhere.  I am sure that I do as well.

Would love to see some pictures of your rig :!:
