Bowsprit

I need to make a new one.  Has anyone tried to make one from the new plastic decking material?  The old bowsprit was made from 1.5" thick "something" that rotted away.  I can make a template from the hardware that is still standing plus two air vents.  I still have all the metal goods.  Any suggestions?

You talking about the forward part of the cap?  Maybe it just needs to be recored?  Pics would help us.

No, I'm talking about that long wooden thing that sticks out from the bow that has the anchor and a roller for the line that plays out at anchor.  Mine also has two cleats for tie-off and the two air intakes also pass though the wooden platform part.  My wood was so rotten that I took it apart with my hands, no tools.  It was 1.5" thick 21" at the widest point on the bow and stuck out 24" from the bow.

No, that goes around the bowsprit so you don't fall off while servicing or using it to haul the anchor.
