Aft Fish Box

I know this has been discussed before by SeaBob, on my 245 Osprey, I was considering making the one piece fish box cover open on both ends by cutting it and putting two piano hinges on the cover?  Is this what AS did on the later covers to make them easier to work with?? Thanks

It looks like they had a center support with double hinges on each cover.

I think that the piano hinge would not properly support the cover if you were to stand on it (where the two covers meet).

Look at this...


The top drawing is what you have, the bottom drawing is what we did, oh, probably '98.  6-hole Gem hinges in the locations shown, the center section, about 8" wide, was screwed down at the 4 corners.

You could do it on yours, although when it was re-designed, all 3 pieces had flanges on them as well as molded recesses for the hinges so it gave the whole hatch a finished look...
