2004 225 Explorer Water Tank Leak
« on: April 30, 2010, 12:56:40 PM »
Hello all,
I own a 2004 225 Explorer with a built in 8 gal. water tank and when I fill this up after a day the water seems to run out of the tank ??,  anyone have this problem and if so where is the leak and how can I fix it.

There seems to be no way to get at the tank or hoses.

The tank is located behind the bulkhead that closes out the port side "wing", just aft of the sink area.  We used Whale water fittings and Whale blue water line back then, the outlet port running to the pump (located behind the access door, port side next to the transom door) is on the lower portion of the tank.  That's where it should be leaking, if indeed you have a leak.  Does your bilge show signs of where the water is coming from?

Thanks for responding,  yes I have had no issues with the boat and have know this leak problems since early last year.   I am pretty sure the bilge is getting the water but I did not fill the water tank last year.

If the leak is wear you indicate,  how do I fix.
Thanks,

Thanks,

The "leak" could be the result of different causes.  The threaded boss on the tank may have dried out and split.  The fitting on the boss, same thing.  The Whale fittings?  Quite possible.  The blue water line?  Certainly a cause to investigate.  The fittings on the pump, transom shower, and cabin sink?  All possibilities.  The shower and the sink faucet?  Why not?

In other words, it's time to get in there and do some trouble-shooting...and I mean get IN there... :thumright:

Once you find it, we'll go from there... :thumleft:
