When I removed my tank the only corrosion was under the foam tape someone had placed under the straps at one time. A friend of mine who is a marine welder and helped me build my tank told under no certain terms should there be any foam or rubber touching the tank. It's ok if the tank gets wet but only if it can dry out. If something can trap and hold water against the tank it will quickly cause pitting. He has seen hundreds of tanks over the years and said any of them with foam will be corroded. Air has to get to it! I glued 3/4" thick starboard "runners" on the bottom of my tank and then used vinyl under the straps for cushion. Rubber usually has carbon in it which will corrode your new tank in no time.
