 Never heard of such thing. Is the state of Florida full of those water pockets?

Marc..

Marc, Here's a sinkhole primer. More than you ever wanted to know.
Required reading for development guys .
Lake Jackson mentioned is in Tallahassee and the karst system is very prevalent with "sinks" in this area.
Nothing like the ones in C.Fla.

Interesting link, thanks
I was looking at sinkhole maps for Florida and   it's only going to get worse. Must be a freaky site to see a lake disappear or a house falling in one of those sinkhole. Now I'm not to sure if I would want to trade my snow for that :pale:

Actually if we had your snow along with our 50+ inch of rain, we might not have the sinkhole problems.  It's because of the loss of water that it happens and the I-4 episode is being blamed on the growers in that area using so much water to help fend of the freeze of their plants.  So the news reporters say anyway.

Finally had a chance to sit down in front of the computer and saw this thread.  Man, it seems like everybody got tagged - New England, Canada, Southeast U.S.  Sounds like it was tough SE on the citrus, strawberries, plenty of other stuff....

Like JimCT said, dealing with the cold is part of winter in these latitudes.  First week of '10 morning temps were running -22 to -28...and if there's a weak link in a vehicle (like maybe an older one the kids drive   ), the weather will show ya what it is.  Lotta fun working on 'em, too.  It sorta makes you feel better knowing you don't live in International Falls or Winnipeg.

Hey - only six weeks to March 1st :thumright: .

Hi Rick and everyone else!  Today it was a Balmy 48 degrees, I can see the Fluke heading North as we speak....in my dreams.  All is well in NY and just waiting to get back into the water!

Hello Everyone,

Just came from the Boat Show here in Suffolk county today.  Not too impressed, hoping to see more equipment, looking for new stereo and speakers.  Can't wait to get the boat going soon!

Lost of snow here on Long Island.  Third major storm of the season this past Friday, over a foot of snow....again.

Steve
