Non-Aquasport Boat Advice Needed
« on: January 27, 2010, 03:42:38 PM »
I'm looking for a new boat.  It's gonna be a work boat.

I'm looking for a 22' cuddy cabin or walk around with large back deck and a shallow draft.

I'd prefer much more deck than cabin.  Something utilitarian would be great.

Right now the only boat that comes to mind is a 22' C-hawk.

I thought about asking this question on thehulltruth but I'd rather avoid the noise.

Thanks
C

Why not go for a 222XF?  I've seen several used as work boats.  Beaufort Search & Rescue used one for years, and they are pretty popular as dive boats.  Draft is 10-12" depending on options.

See if you can find a 230 Explorer - I have 13 ft of room from the helm to the engine - all open.

Hard to find these boats though.

But not in Canada.

Do you want it to be brand new, or can it be used?

Several Carolina-made boats come to mind. C-Hawk as you said, Hancock, Maycraft, Atlantic(well boat), Diamond.

Then there are a bunch made around Harkers Island, Core Sound style. Get on Eastern NC Craigslist, tell me what you see.

PS. I need to get a boat from Marco up here to Wilmington.....this may work out for both of us, if you went with a Carolina boat.  My e-mail: gran398@yahoo.

Good luck!

flkeysaqua,

Thank you very much! I have been searching a while now, I'm very excited about getting her up here!

Thanks also for your offer should you be driving this way. I'm still thinking about the best way to get it up here. Hate to buy a nice tandem trailer, since it will be going on a lift when it gets here. May rent one, and go get it. Or send it up on a semi. Then buy a used single axle just to have as a yard trailer.

Will keep you posted....thank you again and best to you and yours!
