Dimension of cooler seat? Upgrade to Leaning Post
« on: February 09, 2010, 05:06:22 PM »
Hello,

1st time poster here.  I have a 2005 Osprey with a cooler seat.  Does anyone know the dimension of this cooler seat?  I am looking to upgrade to a leaning post and I can not find the dimensions anywhere.  Unfortunately, my boat is not available to measure.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Welcome aboard jtg.

This is a real stretch.
First, I'll assume you have the 205 Osprey Bay model (closest thing to a 20' I see in the 05 catalog)?
Next, there is a line drawing of this boat in the catalog.

I scaled the drawing and used a 1"= 6' scale. It fits the line drawing dims. pretty close (again assuming it's a CAD drawing). Since it's a top view drawing, the seat/mounts are shown. I'm assuming you want the metal mounting dimensions.

38" wide x 14" long (deep).

I'm thinking you are trying to swap seat/post and use the same mounting points. If so, this info is useless but if you don't mind filling and re-drilling, this can at least let you start looking for a post in this general size area.
Hopefully someone will provide the actual measurements.

Good luck.

I think most of these used the Todd swingback cooler seat.  Specs are at the Todd website - you will need to note if your has steel or wood arms:

It appears so CJ, now that I visited several other Osprey models (SeaBob to the white phone).

The line drawing appears to be for the optional "leaning post seat with backrest and 72qt cooler".
I see that the flip back 76qt cooler is standard OEM on both the 205 and 185 and it appears (in the catalog photo for the 185 Osprey) to have the metal posts.

The 205 also had an optional "reversible helm seat with a 94qt cooler".
