I'm new and I have a question...
« on: November 26, 2009, 08:40:46 AM »
I'm new to the ocean boat thing (i've owned a few alum. bass boats but looking to do something different) and looking at a '94 22.5 osprey CC with a 200 yamaha, it seems like a solid boat with no visible stress cracks. The T-top needs some paint but otherwise everything looks good.......except the floor on both sides of the console are a little soft like where you would be standing while holding on to the T-top, about a foot long. I'm not looking for a fixer-upper so is this a deal breaker??? asking $6000. B-M-T. Will it just get worse and need repair soon?? I see no cracks anywhere at all and I have two kids 5 and 2 so I love the swim deck and the door to access the swiw deck, I'm just not sure about the soft spots. Thanks

It sounds like to me that it was caused by the installation of the T-top but I could be wrong and it will need to be addressed sooner or later there are some "quick ways" around a correct way of fixing it. And im sure others will have their opinion's on some other ways of fixing the problem but to my knowledge (as limited as that is) where the deck is soft has to come out and be replaced both wood and glass. And the sooner its fixed the less area that has to be replaced.

Welcome aboard oldbugs  :!:  :!:
As for the sole being soft, I'm not sure what is under the sole at that place in the hull.  Maybe you could cut it out and put big hatches there?
Maybe SeaBob will know, that's about the time he started building the Ospreys.

If it's just "a little" soft I don't think I'd worry about it.
