Anchor Windlass
« on: August 13, 2012, 10:20:02 AM »
Looking for opinions on anchor windless. I have a 290 Aquasport TM. LOA 32'. Should I get above deck mount or below deck? Free fall or motorized fall? Brands/Models? Thanks

Anthony

Free fall is the way to go.  Above vs. below is based on preference and space belowdecks.  Think about access and service.  Remember you will be running some serious wire up there, so also scope out wire runs.    :thumleft:

Thank you. I think the previous owner left the mount and wires with switch. It was a fire sale and he just picked up what he could and left the rest for me to figure out. Thanks again.

Here is a topic that shows my windlass install.  One of the best things I've done to my 230.
I agree that the freefall is a better feature and you can control the rate of fall for the most part - I would go with the profish 1000 for your boat.
