I had a 225 yamaha on there and it was to much motor for the boat. i have got a 140 evinrude but it's a 20' shaft and not sure if it will work. The yamaha was a 25 shaft so give me your opinions thanks.

do you have any pics of the boat set up with the yami? how fast that thing go?!

you'll have to cut the transom down to make that 20" shaft work. (assuming you have a 25" transom)

ill trade you my 112hp 25" shaft for your 225hp 25"    lol

Unless it's been raised, the 1976 model 19-6 has a 20" transom.  That 140 should be fine.

See ya on the water!

carrabellefish.... Why was the 225 yamaha too much? I just bought a 19-6 with a 2001 225 vmax, its a super heavy boat, full tower, 60 gallons of livewells etc. Out of curiosity how did it do on fuel? Also what kind of yamaha and year did you have? The boat is being restored right now, I have not had it on the water since I bought it, curious as to if you could give me any in site?

That year 19-6 has a 20" transon unless it has a closed transom with a porta bracket or something to that affect a 20" midsection is what our boats come with
