Hi Bob, ya gotta be more exact then that - what year, is it a 250 or a 246, is it an Explorer or an Express fisherman.... then we can help you.

hi rick the boat is a 2000 250 explore walkaround with hard top it has twin 150 yam  i don t think this boat is a classic so i m not shore if this site will have info. having hard time get info ,if not here would you know another site

Yeah, the '00 is identical.  Love the bottom pic in the brochure.  Gotta be taken around John's Pass or Mad Beach.  We didn't really have too many commercial guys in Sarasota, maybe in Cortez, before you went over the bridge to Bradenton Beach.

Not to hijack this thread, but saved the pic as a PDF, then enlarged it.  The guy in the yellow jacket is Todd Biddeson, former Engineering Manager, and the guy sitting aft is Sidney Lanier, former design engineer.  Both great guys who I had the pleasure of working with at Hydra-Sports in '00, and who are both now with Marine Concepts in Cape Coral.  Todd, his brother, and their father also founded Biddeson boats way back when in St. Pete.  Someone has a Biddeson 18 about 3 miles from my house, in excellent shape.

A little bit of AS/Wellcraft trivia there.  Now, what about that 250 Explorer?

thank you all for info .i m just looking for any discussion on boat because very limited info out there .if anyone has boat i would like to know if they had to replace fuel tank.i now have boat at marina the deck is cut open and mechanic has pointed out that tank was blocking rear tank tub drain rotting tank.if anyone has info i would like to know if they changed tank design and how they supported deck hatch .

So in other words, the tank itself was prohibiting water from draining out of the tank compartment, thus allowing water to pool and eventually corroding the tank to the point where leaks developed.  Correct?

yes thats what i believe must of happened .the boat is new to me but the previous owner must of had water in boat because high water stains in tub .

i think i m going to make tank smaller so i have drainage don t want to go though this again

Bob,
Well, then, this brings us back to your other thread, "Gas Tank Problems".

The key is to have 1/4" thick neoprene rubber strips run lengthwise along the bottom of the tank as well as up the fore and aft ends.  This allows the tank to be isolated from the hull as well as offering drainage to the weep holes.  The next key is to make sure the fore and aft weep holes are clear of obstructions.  It would seem the forward one is as it is allowing water to enter the tank compartment, so I'd concentrate on the aft one.  As far as a tank hatch, and the purchase of a new tank, refer to the other thread.
