Title of Restored AS
« on: July 11, 2009, 09:41:32 AM »
Maybe this question belongs in this forum.

Hey all. I have a question about titles.

I AM TOLD that if a restoration of my 22 2 exceeds 70% you can title the restored boat as "New 2009" rather than a 30 something year old boat (in addition to insurance advantages of new vs used).

The next question is what effect would the new boat "builder name on the title" have on the eventual resale. Ie: Would you advertise a 1971 AS at birth or a 2009 "whatever"? Would that effect the value or mislead the actual truth.

Have I confused you or myself?

I think the 1971 will always be titled as a 1971 restored or not. Your serial number denotes the year of manufacture, model and other info. restorations are subject to many variables as well as quality. If I were buying a boat that I knew was a 1971 and the paper work stated it was a 2009, I would have many questions concerning the paperwork's validity. Just my opinion
