I would make one out of StarBoard.

That's what I am doing for the replacement deck lids on my 1990 200 Osprey....

I don't think that material will support what Fiberglass/wood will. Just laying flat will bow that stuff - especially for the expanse you'll need to cover the wells.  You'll have bowed panels in no time.

my fuel tank hatch is star board 3/4" thick. it was a good plan but it failed badly. so I will build one out of  fiberglass useing a mold. Eddy ring at classiic mako .com made one or was it stick at classic seacraft made one it was one of the two them that did it. it shoulden be hard to find witch one it was best of luck with the star board.

Starboard would be fine if you reinforce it properly.  Bolt some stainless U-channel to the backside running lengthwise and widthwise to firm it up.

However, building a mold and glassing the part would be best.  Good luck!  :)

I posted this a while back, but I still haven't been able to replace the hatch cover with anything.  Any other ideas, or someone I could call.....Thanks.

Here is a pic of what I need.  I am missing the center hatch cover lid on the front casting deck.  Any Ideas of how to get one of these for a 1978 19-6 Center Console, or where I may be able to get one made, or how to make one.......Thanks

If you want one to match the others and you're willing to put down the $$, try this place http://gbfiberglassparts.com/hatches.aspx

If it doesn't need to match, I would do it with plywood, stain it, epoxy to seal it and two coats of marine varnish. Boston Whaler type of look
