Noob - Recently purchased a 1987 Aquasport 25' CCP
« on: May 21, 2009, 08:55:01 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm a noob from West-Central Florida.  I've recently purchased a 1987 Aquasport 25' CCP and I had a question about the center console. At the front of the console are two sinks with fresh water and a small livewell for bait.  The livewell wouldn't hold much more than some shrimp and maybe a few grunts or bluerunners.

I'm looking to repurpose or modify this area to incorporate a larger livewell (there is none other on the boat) and wondered if anyone has done any similar modifications.  I simply don't need two sinks (although having the freshwater on board is nice).  I'll get some pics up soon, but wanted to throw this out there and see if anyone on the board has done something similar.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.  BTW - I really like the name of your boat.

Welcome aboard.  It's great to have another CCP owner here.
As far as that forward baitwell...... you could cut it out and put a larger one in.  The plumbing is already there.
You could always spray the outside of the existing bait well with foam, put a led light in there and use it to keep a bottle of vodka properly chilled:)

Actually, that well is much larger than it looks. It is sort of in the wrong place so i just use the aft well.

Welcome to another CCP!

If you are using it for bait, you probably want to add the livewell toward the stern, so the bait does not get tossed around so much.  There have been several threads on this site with extensive discussion on different types and sizes of livewell/baitwells.  Check them out!

DOCREED and Gone Fission - thanks for the replies, i'm seriously considering putting in a full transom with a baitwell, but that is somewhere down the line.  Right now I'm using an old cooler with a pump as a secondary baitwell in the interim.  I'll look for the threads that were mentioned for some additional ideas.

Thanx,
JG
