Replacement Parts
« on: July 14, 2010, 08:09:02 PM »
I am thinking that there must be a warehouse of replacement parts for my 1997 AQ225 Explorer somewhere. All is well now but I would like to start researching a source for the canvas and vinyl components. I am also wondering about a replacement hatch (smoked plexiglass) for the cabin. Has anyone bought up the parts? Anyone know of any sources? Some of the plastic "glove box" parts etc. are starting to crack and I am sure they will fall apart in the coming years.

Soap,
First, welcome to CA!  Second, I worked on the line next to the one that built your boat form '94-'00, so I probably saw her roll out the door.  Third, no, there is no "stockpile" of spare parts.  Here is a link to my site (I work for Proline now) that gives a run-down an where to find parts made for your boat, as most builders use the same parts...Where do your parts come from?.

The company that made your your cabin door is, unfortunately, out of business...

The company anyone wants to check out is Spradlingvinyl.com.  They have taken over the old company that AS used for their vinyl work.  After talking to Garelick who made the cushions and talking to Spradling,  we got the color samples and they are pretty much dead on colorwise.  My bow cushion is now getting made as I type.  I started about 3 months ago tracking this down and finally got it done.  With an email from Gary and Gail at ghelms@tampabay.rr.com and friendly people at both Garelick and Spradling steering me in the right direction,  my cushion guy here in N.Y. got the samples yesterday and they are the matches.  The teal green, (now called Forrest Green) and the white's, both smooth and textured finishes are right.  The vinyl that Spradling uses is classified as Heidi Soft Marine.

Hi Everone,

I have a 1980 Aquasport 246 CCP and I'm looking for somewhere to purchase the back fiberglass piece that seperates the transom area. It's removable so you can have easy access to the engine. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Gerbow,
Welcome bud!  You wouldn't happen to have a pic of the piece, would you?  Or is it long gone.

When I was there in the mid-90s, we used to make our transom walls/dams out of starboard...

There is a guy here in town that has a CAD router that produces starboard parts for Jones  Brothers. Would think you could send what you wanted to him, and he could duplicate it.
