New guy...old 20ccp
« on: January 29, 2009, 01:32:54 PM »
Hello...
Just joined and wanted to say Hi!  I have a 1979 20 CCP that i've owned for at least 12 years.  Over that coarse of time I installed and then later removed a TTop, replaced the fuel tank, replaced most teak with Starboard, raised transom height so water would not slop onto my 200 merc(increased shaft lenght), strenghtened floor over the fuel tank, rewired and more that I have forgotten.  Recently I have thought about getting somthing newer but I like the boat so much I may do a major overhaul and repower.  I have had this boat as far as 35 miles off shore but am older and wiser now and don't go past the Garden State Reefs 7 or so miles out. Mostly fish the Local bays and inlet(Little Egg Harbor).  In the process fo selling out and moving to SW Florida and this old boat will most likely come along for the ride.  I also have a 15" Mud boat that I use to duck hunt, clam and crab with.  I liked that old boat as well and rebuilt it from the bottom up including stringers, floor, and a new transom.  When things warm up I'll take some photos.

if you can find a nicer set up for a 20 footer than the 200 CCP go for it. I doubt it exists. The 200CCP is an incredible set up for near shore fishing. I love mine and I am dying to get back out there (we are getting destroyed by weather this year in NY). My 200CCP is a bit soft in the floor in spots but thats about all thats wrong with her. Whoever cut in the front hatch in front of the coffin never sealed in the hatch or resined the wood edges. I am trying to figure out a way to maybe drill small holes in the floor and infuse GIT ROT to harden the floors. I think I can infuse the stuff along the cut out edge of the hatch as well. Just a thought right now but if I give it a go I will post the project. I dont see why it wouldnt work providing the wood is dry. I used it with great sucess on my transom. To my advantage the boat has been in my driveway, covered, with every single hatch and panel open since december. If she isnt dried out by now she never will be.
