1984 17' Aquasport steering cable

I can't find any numbers on my steering cable and unsure of what to measure for proper length. Anyone know what length or telaflex part number I need??

I am taking that it is a center console. It is either 12' or 14 '.
You really have to measure it. We went with a 14' and it fit perfectly.

Replaced mine about 3 yrs ago.  The number that comes to mind is 13 ft.

I have finally gotten around to looking for numbers on my telaflex steering cable.    12-5   sc/272 c2

I looked around on the web and can't find anything to match this number. I assume that the 12-5 means that it is a 12'6" cable?
Any assistance would be great!

Here's a novel idea.  
Disconnect the cable at both ends. Tie a cord/rope on to the wheel end and pull out the old cable and leave the cord in place.

Measure for proper length. Then use cord/rope to pull in new cable.

My 17 had a removable deck cover making cable replacement easy.
