I feel like the 90 will push me as fast as I will ever need to go.  We'll have to wait and see what I can cruise at once I get the new prop.  I was topping out at about 23 knots with a 70 rude on my 17.  That was with me (large) and another person, 27 gal livewell, etc.  Also, I don't have the tower, etc. yet like most of the folks put on the rebuilds.  And I might add that I love the idea of pushing a 22' boat with a 90 horse (even though it looks slightly disproportional by todays standards).

Marcq - What do you top out at on your 17?

I was looking at my Dad's boat and thinking that the added displacement of the slight v-hull may contribute to the difference in the appearance of the water/bottom paint line.

Oh, I'm not sure if any of you are engineers, but the test I was studying for was the P.E. and I found out today that

I've thought about putting an 90 2-stroke on mine. Thanks for the input!  :thumright:

I think I do about the same, once a friend was following me with his boat and told me I was doing 29 but I don't think I was going that fast. One thing for sure, I like my boat a lot better with the 70 rude then my 85 Johnson I had on her before
