Yeah,
We get pretty heated on stringer replacement around here, so watch your step!

On a serious note:

The motorcycle forum I'm a small part of, will not tolerate any mention either written or implied of politics. Members going down that path are warned and the thread closed. There's close to 20,000 (some are spammers of course) and no one complains. They talk about more than just cycles but the "P" word is verboten.

There's a lot more political forums out there to join than classic boat lover ones. I'm just sayin'

Nicely put!

This really is all my fault, and for that, I apologize

Time to get down to business.  My opinion?  Turn the SC into a long term project, do it right, and use the AS to get you where you need to be, on the water.

BTW, I was on my way to work this morn to Proline, got into Homosassa, and about a 1/2 mile in front of me a vehicle and boat turned onto 19 going north.  My headlights hit the hullside, and from that far away, I knew it was either a 225 or 245/250 Osprey, mid 90s.  The graphics, you know.  Knew it was an Osprey from the outline of the t-top in the available light.  Turned out it was a 225, probably '92-93, with a same vintage Merc 225 on her.  She looked really good, as much as I could see in the dark.  Wonder if he's a member here?

Thanks for the input Seabob.  I believe that's the plan at this point.  The AS could use some bottom paint and some new gel on the interior, so I think I will do that for her at least.  I'll post some pics, of course.

Just an observation I have made, but it seems that the 22-2 is a pretty popular AS.  From what I can tell, it looks like a longer version of the 19-6.  Am I right?  I've never had the pleasure of seeing one up close and personal.  If it is, seems like that boat would give you all the size you would ever need with a minimal amount of horsepower...  not that the 19-6 isn't plenty big enough :)

Thanks again

The 22-2 is what is known in the business as "the original center console", if I know my boating history.  Rick, care to chime in on the 22-2's history?

I would venture to guess that Rick and a number of other members are preparing for tomorrow's gathering at Beer Can Isle.

Cap't Bob,
I forgot.  Rick invited me, and it would have been great to get back to my old stompin' grounds.  Alas, the work situation does not allow it.  I hope all who attend have a great weekend, a great gathering, catch some reds and snook, and most of all, stay safe.

So, Bob, you've got a 22-2.  Inform our friend from S.C. on the history behind it.

Bob C.

I know you were asking for RickK, but I am a Rick too...

 :)

Yes, the 222 was one of the first boats to employ the center console.  I have read debates about whether it was really THE first, but it was certainly the first mass-produced one.  I have seen an article/brochure on here before that referred to the history of the hull... I will look for it.

Another interesting tidbit: the Flatback was actually built from a mold that was taken off an old wood hull... then modified slightly.

Here is an article from '66 - you'll have to click on all the pages to read them in the right order.

update-

So I pulled the old SeaCraft to the garage to assess the damage, and I couldn't help but think that the SeaCraft looks smaller than my Aquasport.  It's upside down on a trailer right now, so it's kind of hard to tell.  It's supposedly a 20' boat, but doesn't look any bigger than the 19-6.  I did some rough measuring, and sure enough, (at least toward the stern) , the floor of the Aquasport is about 8-9" wider than the SeaCraft's.

That might be the dealbreaker right there...  8)
