Weight of 19.6 Cuddy Cabin
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:36:44 PM »
Just bought an Aquasport and need to know the weight.  Can you help?
Can anyone speak to an all aluminum center fuel tank?  I am worried about using it on this '76 Aquasport. The rest of the boat is in excellent shape.  Thanks,
Redman

Many here have replaced their tanks with... another aluminum tank.
Older tanks have demonstrated a nasty habit of corroding on the bottom where moisture was trapped by foam holding the tank in place or placed under the tie down straps.

Either way, at your boat's age you should think about pulling the tank and inspecting the bottom. Replacing it with another aluminum tank is fine. Some here apply various coatings to protect the tank and prevent corrosion.

Good luck.

my tank is fine, no worries.  my boat is too heavy.  i've discovered most of the wood is soaked.  everything is solid but i attribute that to the good old ways of fiberglassing holding everything together.  fully loaded with gas and gear with a '78 175 mercury hanging on the back the scuppers are fully submerged.

I have spec sheets on the 1976 models.
The 19-6 Family Fisherman (with the cuddy cabin) has the Modified Vee hull, is 19'6" with a beam of 7'8", and the net weight w/o motor is listed as 1650 lbs. The max capacity is shown as 1550 lbs.
