1998 225 EFI Mercury
« on: September 04, 2008, 11:00:37 AM »
I have an opportunity to buy a 225 EFI merc for my 222 Sandpiper off a guy for about $1k. The motor has been sitting for 4 years in storage. It Was properly winterized when put away. Does anyone see any problems that might occur orthings to look for or ne wary of from an engine sitting so long? Motor only has 171 hours on it. Thoughts?

have it checked out because a Merc for 1K sounds unheard of. Have him start it up with bunny ears or hire somebody to come check it out. If it has been sitting for 4 years it probably has old fuel in it that may need tro be cleaned out
