Bacon-Wrapped Scallops

Easy recipe- works great on a grill on in a pan!

What you need:
1 lb. large scallops
1 lb. sliced bacon
1 tbs pepper (coarse ground)
Toothpicks
Maple syrup (optional)

Sprinkle/mix scallops with pepper.  Wrap bacon around scallops and push toothpicks through to hold bacon in place.  Cook on grill or in pan over medium heat just like you cook bacon - about 3 minutes on each side or until the bacon is browned and the scallops look done.  An option is to finish by brushing them with maple syrup in the pan or on the grill - gives a bit of sweetness - a quick turn or two and they are ready to serve.

Looks nice to serve with lemon slices/wedges.   Tastes even better with a cold beer (but doesn't everything?!)      You can also make these up in advance and keep them in a plastic bag until ready to cook.

Try it!  See ya on the water!

If you make a nice strawberry/mango/red pepper/pineapple chutney to go with those it is even more off the chain.  A little lime juice and some sugar....you're good to go.

Thanks for the receipe.  I just hosted a party at a dinner club and had Bacon Wrapped Scallops as appettizers.  Charged me like $3 a piece.  I think I'll make some on my own for dinner soon.

No.  Keep your day job.  Those dinner clubs really struggle to stay open. Good service, nice setting, great food...  very expensive.  Not something I do very often.
