Check out the Volvo-Penta taps. One of the cleanest kit appliciation I have ever seen.  Leaves room on the rear for ladders, power pole, trolling motors ect...  I have had them on my 22 since Nov. and really like them. Over a hundred hours at this point.  Power Pole also offers a stealth motor option., If your doing any sight fishing you may want it instead of the other one that is a bit noisy.

QL system

Capt. Rick,

I know someone who rebuilt a 20' Bertram and used the QL system and loves it. Looks like the cost is similar to the bennett tabs once everything is included. I like the idea that they are very low profile especially as this will be a family boat....less likely to have someone stepping on a tab.

How was the install? Did you do it yourself or have someone install them for you?

How do they work with regard to getting up on a plane compared to the typical trim tabs?

The kit came very nicely packaged with the most laid out program of anything I have ever installed.  It was a simple install...all plug and play with those German plugs, can't recall their name, and even the grease to put in them.  It also came with a plastic covered, spiral bound manual for installing, operating and warranty info.  I can't tell any difference between the performance of my Bennett's I had on my flats boat.  Can't say enough good things about them,,way cool. :!:

Capt,

Do you have the QL 300 or 450 system? I've found what I think is a pretty good deal on the 450 system and am very close to pulling the trigger on it. How does it work when going from  a dead stop to getting on plane compared to conventional trim tabs.

Sorry Doc, I can't be sure but do remembering that the smaller ones were recommended for a boat the size of my 22.  I don't see where bigger would be a problem and might work better if that's possible.  Hole shots are a straight ahead get up with very little bow lift.
