aircraft paint?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone had any experience using aircraft or other sort of paints on boats? I was talking with David at Gause Built boats yesterday, trying to decide what color to paint my boat, (I work for Innovative Products and we make all their switch panels) and he began to explain how they stopped using awlgrip years ago and they special order some kind of aircraft grade paint. I cant remember what it was called but he said it was less expensive then awlgrip and sprayed easier, and that I can go to homedepot, pick out any color and he can match it for me. Anyways, I was just curious if anyone else has any knowledge on this issue

I would think that if a company that can sell a 23' bayboat for $80,000 is using it then it probably works pretty well.  But then again maybe I am oversimplifying.

I sprayed my 170 hull with Imron about 6 years ago and it was easy.  It's very thin paint though and it "sagged" down the boat on the first try though - had to sand it back down a bit. Second try it was fine but I didn't get the shine that I got the first time.   :(   It has held up well.
The fumes are VERY bad for you though.  I painted the boat outside and didn't have a problem.

haha exactly what I was thinking.

Im going to head up to their shop sometime in a few weeks and check out their boats and choose a paint color.

I think they use Sterling, suppose to be the best!
