Does anyone know if this boat came with a wash down?  The boat has one but there is no hose connected to it.  There is a switch for it on the control panel but obviously with no hose connected no matter how many times I turn the switch on it doesn't work.   duh...

Maybe it was an option?
So you found the pump and switch, saw there was not a hose attached to the pump, so, how can we help you?  How to run the hose?

wash down inquiries
« Reply #2 on: April 17, 2008, 06:31:28 PM »
Hey Rick thanks for your interest in my problem.  Any information on how to run the hose would be helpful.  We have half of the plate off of the gas tank due to a leaky sending unit.  So with that open we figure now would be the time to intall that wash down. There are 2 live well pumps. Can we tap into one of these lines?  Will the live well pumps block the flow to the wash down pump? If so could we tap in before the pumps? Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry it took a while to get back to you - this 12hour time difference is a pain.
So I was wrong in how I interpreted your first post - you found a washdown hose that is not attached to any pump, not a pump that not attached to a hose.  :?  Big difference.

This is what I learned from the guys on this forum while I was installing my pumps and I installed 2 in my 230 - a raw water and a freshwater: a baitwell/bilge pump is based on gallons per hour, like a 750gph pump may be fine for a baitwell, a 1500gph may be fine for a bilge pump.  A washdown pump, on the other hand is based on gallons per minute - in other words you need a lot of volume to blast stuff off your deck, etc.
On my 230 I have baitwells and the original baitwell pump (750gph) had a "Y" valve on it's output to share between a "shower" type washdown head and the baitwell.  Obviously as a washdown hose, it had no pressure.
If you're trying to use the baitwell pumps as a washdown, you might be disappointed in performance.

I decided to unhook the baitwell feeds at the pump, remove the baitwell pump from the thruhull and use the water pickup for raw water washdown with a 2.5 gpm pump which is adequate but wish I would have gone with the same size that I bought for the fresh water washdown - 5.0gpm @ 70psi (I think).
(Click here and scroll down to the bottom of that page and on to the next, to see what I went through)

I have/need only one pickup, so these are questions I'll post to the forum:
1) I realize that some of you said that you share the pickup - is this an approved approach?
2) I realize the least number of holes you put through your hull the better you are, if he does share the pickup, is his best option a "Y" and some form of shutoff valves to control which is getting water through the pickup?
3) If you did share a water pickup among different volume pumps and without some form of shutoff control between the sharing pumps, will a high volume pump suck water through a bilge/baitwell pump that's on and potentially damage the diaphragms in them?

Wash Down(er)

Hey Rick. thanks for the tips.  . I am using the thru hull sea cock constructed of brass which was previously used for the second live well pump. I went to a local marine supplier and  attempted to purchase a wash down kit None were available so we picked up a Jabsoc Parmax 4, 4.3 gpm12 Volt Dc Model, Fuse 15 Amp, High Pressure. The sales rep sold me what I thought was the hose connection for the outlet side of the pump.  After cutting a hole in the side of the CC and installing pump, hose connection and switch I found out that the hose connection was for city water.  It is a water pressure regulator utilized to reduce the municipal water pressure to a useable pressure for marine applications.  I am going to a West Marine store in the Albany area tomorrow to try to find the correct outlet for the wash down pump.  If you remember in my last post I mentioned I had a leaky sending unit on top of the gas tank. I do not use the sending unit the previous owner installed a NavMan F2100 Fuel flow meter which is much more accurate.  The previous owner also removed the gas tank and put some type of a epoxy over it to resolve the pitting issue, but  I digress we cleaned around the sending unit and used JB Weld to stop the leak. Do you think this is a viable resolution or do you have another solution.  Thanks for your help.  I will send pics of the boat soon.  It has a Suzuki 150 4 Stroke with  a 9.9 kicker also Suzuki.
