I discussed this before, but finally "went at it..."
There is a good amount of space between the liner and the hull on CCPs, and the 246CCP puts rod holders there - the 22 footer just has a stowage area. So I put my handy borescope in there and found a big empty area. How about some rod holders?
First the 2" holes get cut in the back of the stowage area for the 2" PVC to go through:
The PVC gets a cap to hold it in place so it won't fall inside:
I decided on 2 rod holders, so I cut 2 holes and installed 2 pieces of 2" PVC -each goes back 5 feet!
To stabilize the PVC, I used screws to hold it in place, then foamed around it. But first I had to cut a hole for a deck plate - set the hole cutter for 6.75":
Then cut the hole - note the original foam comes up about this high:
Next install the deck plate, foam the hole, and close the deck plate and caulk it all. Then comes the rod holder up front (I'm not sure about this rod holder - it puts the rods a little too close for my tastes...) And you're done!:
See ya on the water!!
