Welding cost
« on: March 18, 2008, 08:27:57 AM »
Hi guys, since I scrap the idea about making a pilot house out of my boat, I decided to fabricate a t-top instead . If I precut all my parts for it, how much do you think a welder would charge me to just do the welding part for the base, not the top. I'm trying to determine how long would it take for a welder to do that job, he's charging $50.00 an hour

Assuming GMAW (mig) welding on aluminum, this looks like about a half-day welding job if the welder does not have to do much prep.  End preps for tube welding take some time, so you can save a good deal of time (and money) by doing the fit/prep and only having the welder do welding.
