22-2CCP gas tank specs

I think I will be replacing the gas tank on my 22-2CCP this fall.  I would like to be able to order and receive a new tank before I take the console off and get the old tank out.  The idea is a quick out, quick in process.  

However, when I recored the section over the tank, I did not measure the tank - duh    - what was I not thinking...

Does anyone have the specs for the 22 foot CCP gas tank?  Anybody measured the inside of the tank tub?  It would really help if someone in the middle of a rebuild and can provide the tank tub measurements.

You might try RDS manufacturing in Perry, FL... they manufactured quite a bit of OEM tanks in the 70s-80s... I know they had an Osprey tank drawing on file.

I just went from "considering" to "gotta do - now!"  

Tank just started leaking when full.  Drained it down to where it's not draining through the transom drain, but tank replacement is now priority 1 on the boat.  Got a big fishing trip scheduled in 3 weeks, so I need to have it done by then.   :!:

Does ANYONE have the specs for the 85 gallon Aquasport tank?  It was used on the 22 foot CCPs and the 22 foot Family Fisherman.  I would like to get the new tank started ASAP, and it will take a day or so to get the console, seat, and center cover out so I can get to the tank.

All I can think of if you can't find the specs., is to try calling:

One other thing to check before pulling the tank... when you open her up you may find the filler or vent hoses have cracked & failed.  This ethanol cocktail they're peddling as gasoline nowadays disintegrates the older hoses into mush.  I found that out on my '74 22-2.

Yep, opened the port and put the scope inside - no leaks on the topside.  Looks like the leak is on one of the sides of the tank.  Couldn't see it with the borescope, but also did not spend the time and effort to do a 100% inspection - not like it's a nuke plant - I'll just replace the tank and be back in biz...   Order on the way for Alloy!

No, but I talked with the OEM, Florida Marine Tanks.  They had the drawing for the 85 gallon Aquasport tank, but have a 4 week delivery, which won't work for me - got  a big fishing trip in mid-October.  I tried to find a way to cut the time, but they are stuck on 4 weeks.  :cry:

Anyway, between talking with them, getting the measurements from jdupree on his 200CCP, and carefully reviewing photos I took when I recored the cover, I was able to come up with what seemed to be the correct measurements.  The folks are Florida Marine Tanks were nice, but were not ready to just send me their drawing so I could get my tank fabricated somewhere else...  

When I ran the specs through the calculator, the volume came up at - this is the good part - 85.2 gallons!  That confirmed it, so the order is on the way to Alloy.  5 days for fabrication and 3 days shipping and I'm in business again!

Have heard very good things about Alloy... also about Luther's.  When the time comes, Luther's will be doing the two tanks for the 240 and even offered to deliver them.

Please post pictures of the operation when you get into it.

I just replaced mine...but don't have the measurements. Will try to get them from the shop. I did see the area when the deck was up...after the new tank was in. Biggest disapointment...;there was a good bit of extra space towards the bow....and I could have gotten an easy 100 gal plus had I known.

Geeze, I'm awfully glad I was not the one who triggered this tank replacement thing for you.
I sure do appreciate your replies and direction and the pictures on the project will be invaluable if I Need to go ther too. I should find out this weekend when we go get it and bring it home to Chattanooga. I'll let you know. Again thanks., Bob Doc
