CCP front stowage

Has anyone opened up the front stowage areas on a 22 foot CCP to make room for rod holders like the 246 has?  If so, how far back could you go, and what size rod will it fit?  

On the 246 CCP, the openings go all the way back to the console, with rod holder holes and brackets.  It looks like the 22 foot could do the same thing, but before I break out the Sawzall, I would like to know if anyone has done this, or if there is something between the liner and the hull I don't know about.  Don't want to be cutting and then - surprise!

I have had it in my mind to try to look for you.  When I ran the power cable for my windlass, I don't remember anything being back there on the starboard side except for the fuel fill line and vent.  I think I can squeeze my head in the anchor locker and see almost all the way back except for what the front stowage area blocks.  I had the same idea of more rod holders being recessed.  I promise I'll look soon but not this weekend.  Going up to JAX to help the son break in his new Mitzi Skiff.

I guess he is going to buy the 45 HP Honda four stroke from me.  I'll be helping him rig it and "test" it this weekend.

It's a 17' '07 still under factory warranty.

That 45 should push her fine.  It's looks almost flat on the bottom, huh.  

I hear they'll cruise in 10" on plane.  Not good for the grass beds but good for bragging rights I guess (like they do on FS ).

Made a trial run this afternoon on a very wide part of the St Johns River.  The sea breeze had kicked in so it was pretty choppy.  The Mitzi handled the chop way better than I expected.  The only time I got any spray was with a quartering wind and what boat is dry then?  Prop is pretty good as is but I think the hole shot could be improved with a pitch change.  He is like me and does not give a hoot about hi speed (but it will hit high 30's @ 5800 ;) )  That Honda sure is quiet.  I was standing on the dock holding the bow line and he asked if I was ready.  I told him I was waiting on him to get the motor started before shoving off.  Of course, it was already running.  I could not hear it from the bow.

Rick, it actually does have some deadrise.  I'll try to get a pic tomorrow.

It is supposed to plane less than that but I'm like you, I don't care to burn the flats.

I did not get a pic of the stern but the website says 11 degree deadrise.  Mitzi swears this boat floats in 7-8" loaded.  I'll say this, with motor, trolling motor, 2 batteries, very little gas it draws less than 6" at rest.  I would bet it will draw less on plane ;)
