Gas Gauge Stuck
« on: May 28, 2007, 08:55:10 AM »
Greetings;
I have a year 2000, Osprey 200 (19.5'). I bought it used last season. The gas gauge gets stuck ocassionally. I filled it just before I dropped it in for the season and the gauge has not moved off full. I know I have used some gas on a couple of trips out. When I turn off the ingnition, the level falls to empty, so I figure it is not electronic. Can I service the float? Disconnect the electric first?

Thanks for the help.

Tim

Replacement fuel tank senders are around $30.  Most are generic.  They come with instructions for adjusting to your tank depth.  Easy job if you have access to the sender area.  Just disconnect the battery while you are working around the open hole.

I'm not even going to mention not smoking around gasoline fumes ;)

Thanks.

I thought a sender was more expensive. I'll look into it.

Try one of these. A bit more expensive But they do not bounce around like the float type and are simple to install.
