Brass transom scupper thimbles
« on: May 15, 2007, 01:16:56 PM »
There was a post a long while back I can't seem to locate regarding fabricating brass scupper thimbles... the ones that are roll-swaged on both ends.  Anybody have info. on making these?  Need to replace the ones on the 22-2.  Might be a good item to add to the Resources page.

I know that Marine Surplus has the thimbles but I have never seen a tool to install them.  They come rolled on one end.  I suppose one could make one out of some threaded rod and other parts.  I have always wished I had a small lathe...

Called Marine Surplus and they have them.  Just have to measure length and get them ordered.  They also have the roll-swage tool for rent to roll the other end.

Thanks for the lead!

The old ones in the 22-2 were reduced to a pinkish crust.

Wow!  I didn't know they had the tool. (I guess I should have asked them.)  Thank you!.
